2015 Festival of Pins

The Calgary International Pin Club 2015 Festival of Pins held August 29 and 30 at the Chapelhow Legion hall was a very successful event. Good times were had by everyone who attended. There were 45 tables rented by club members. On Saturday there were approximately 80 people from the general public in attendance and on Sunday approximately 60 people attended. People from Brithish Columbia through Saskatchewan participated in the festival this year.

There  was a very good quality and selection of door prize items which were drawn throughout the two days. A special thanks goes out to Jeannettee Wilson, Barb Thompson, and Mark Mogen for all their great work on the door prizes. A special thanks also goes to Mark Mogen for being the Master of Ceremonies for the event and to Brin Santoro who managed and announced all the door prize draws. This year there were also donations given for a free giveaway table which was well received.

The good attendance was attributed to adversting and the Pin Festival article in the Calgary Herald by Daryl Slade. A special thanks goes out to Jeannettee Wilson for all her work on advertising and to Mark Mogen for his interview with the Calgary Herald. This year quite a number of people from the general public brought pins to sell or trade to this year's festival.

A special thanks also goes out to our esteemed Treasurer Mildred Park for coordinating the Silent Auction and for managing the front door. A big thank you also to Gerry Malin, Jeannettee Wilson, Wayne Park, and Barb Thompson for all their work on the Silent Auction.

The My Favourite Pin competition was won by Wayne Park. For information and to see this pin select the button on the left of the page.

The 2015 Festival of Pins was the 25th year of this event. An anonymous donor surpised the pin club with the donation of thee cakes in honour of the 25th Festival of Pins. The cakes were sliced and given out to everyone in attendance.
